Urban Cravings

My roomie Lauren just got hired at Anthropologie!  As happy as I am for her, I'm more excited about the 40% discount she gets and all the soon-to-be additions to my closet.  It gets better...she not only gets an Anthropologie discount, but one at Free People and Urban Outfitters too.  Unreal, I know. I'm going to have to do this blog in parts -- things I NEED at all three stores.

It honestly pained me to pick only a few things -- I'm an extremely impulsive online shopper.  The closest Urban Outfitters to me is about an hour away (thanks, Storrs, CT), but I'm going to just have to take a mini road trip and head down to New Haven.

Halloweekend

Halloween follows closely behind Christmas on my list of favorite holidays. I love candy, costumes, and think that "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." is by far the best Peanuts gang holiday special.

Last week, I carved pumpkins with my boyfriend and his roomies -- they turned out much better than expected.

Fall love.

I love my mom and dad more than anything and finally got to spend time with them this weekend. Friday night, my boyfriend and I went with them to a Pink Floyd concert... my dad made me go-- I ended up loving it and having a blast. I knew a lot more Pink Floyd than I thought...thanks pops.

I got to spend Saturday with my mom and we went to our favorite apple orchard, strictly for the apple cider doughnuts. The place was filled with parents and their little babies; my mom said we fit right in. I was jumped at the chance to use the camera on my new iPhone 4, I'm beyond obsessed.

It was absolutely stunning outside today.  The weather in Storrs, CT is always so wild and unpredictable...scratch that...the weather is very predictable -- it's gross. ALL. THE. TIME. nice days are unpredictable and hard to come by.  Typically, the weather here consists of intense cold fronts, raging winds, and lots of rain.  Today though, we got lucky-- lots of sun and no jackets necessary.

I was so tempted to get one last wear out of sundress but decided against it.  Today was a tights day.

When it comes to tights, the brighter the better. As you've heard before, my favorite color is black-- I was tempted to throw black tights on under cuffed, boyfriend, jean shorts from Martin and Osa (RIP) but a last minute change of heart had me boldly walking out of my condo in purple ones.

I need to stock up.  No one beats American Apparel when it comes to color selection.  I'm lusting baja, green apple, and dusty pink.

My roomie, Lauren, our friend Ari, and I all cooked dinner last night.

Check out Lauren's blog for our delicious vegetarian dinner.

I prefer dessert over dinner any day...I made pie. PUMPKIN pie.  I had no idea pumpkin pie took so long to cool, and since I didn't end up putting the pies in until 10pm, I ended up having half a pumpkin pie for breakfast...oops.

Pumpkin pie IS SO EASY to make and tastes so much better than the yucky store bought kind.  I cheated and bought pre-rolled frozen crusts so the entire prepping process took me about 15 minutes. YUM YUM.

My life has been on lockdown...sorority recruitment, homecoming, and Anchorslam all came back to back this year.  I've been sorority Sally for the past few weeks but now my life is finally freeing up.

I love Delta Gamma more than anything.

Leather Bound

I'm heading to the mall with my sister a little later today and I have big plans...

The weather in Storrs, CT went from sticky 90 degree heat to cool fall breezes in just a few days.  I LOVE SUMMER -- I love gladiators, sun dresses, tans, and iced green tea. What I love more than summer though, is being able to dress for the fall.  The Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at Starbucks...it's time to break out my scarves, sweaters, and knits.  What I'm seriously craving right now is a pair of equestrian style leather boots.

I'm picking between these three.  Due to my short stature, knee high boots will do absolutely nothing but accentuate how stubby my legs really are. I plan on trying them all on and hoping that I can pull them off. Fingers crossed.

2. Coach Natale Boot --$378

Guess Who's Back

I'm really sorry to have kept you all waiting but after a short blogging hiatus-- I'm back...with consistent blogging from now on, pinky promise.

With recruitment, work, class, homework, soccer, and homecoming right around the corner, my life has literally been go go go...

I have been meaning to get back into this but I didn't feel like anyone would want to read a list of daily complaints, listen to me whine, and see pictures of the orgo problems I've been doing-- they're not pretty, trust me.

I'll catch you up on my life really fast...

Recent News:

My little sister made the club soccer team! She also is a new member of Delta Gamma sorority! Mini-me...I think so.

I did manage to set off the fire alarm in the Chemistry building...that would have made a good blog, but I'm trying to avoid publicly embarrassing myself any more than I already do.

I registered for BIRTHRIGHT today...Israel, here I come!

My classes are HARD.  Orgo 2 lab is something out of Harry Potter where I get graded on my ability to make solutions...what a joke. If anyone thinks they want to do Pre-Dental/ Pre- Med...DON'T DO IT.

Homecoming is in a few short weeks and Delta Gamma is preparing to KICK ASS. Everyone's been working really hard on lip-sync, the float, and the banner.  My big sis Devon is running for HOMECOMING QUEEN...so any HUSKIES...go VOTE NOW! (Subog.uconn.edu ) I'm really excited/nervous/scared/stressed/anxious....

I live with the three best roommates in the world.

Oh, and UConn still is a construction war zone.

Busy Bee

I haven't blogged in a few days...whoops.

With school about to start I honestly haven't had much time to do anything anyone would want to read about.  Lots of working and lots of getting ready for the new semester.  I'm a junior in college...say waaahhttt?

I've decided Junior year is going to be the BEST year ever. I've compiled a short list of things I want to accomplish.

Resolutions:

1. Get a 4.0 this semester.

...ha.

But really, I'm going to do so well this semester. I'm shooting high but I'll be happy with a 3.5.  Organic Chemistry 2, bring it.

2. Exercise everyday.

I'm running the Hartford Half Marathon in the fall. I really want to get back into shape and hopefully having something to work towards will motivate me.

3. Stop biting my cuticles.

It's gross.

4. Limit my texting.

I have a SERIOUS problem.  My dad says my cell should be duct taped to my hand -- I love to text. I don't need to have my cell phone on me 24/7 -- I plan on trying to leave it in my room and go to class...unreal, I know.  I'm done being THAT girl that's always chatting it up on her celly telly.

5. Talk less, listen more.

6. SLEEP.

Last semester, sleeping was not in my vocabulary and I walked the campus like a zombie.  Not conducive for resolution 1.

7. ROCK THE DAT's.

Dental school here I come.  I need to get my foot in the door at Columbia.  My GPA is high, but not 4.0 high.  I need to kill the DAT's so an admissions counselor realizes that I'm pretty good at this whole learning thing.  Or at least make them think I'm interesting enough to want to give an interview to.  Once I get an interview, it's over.  I will talk my way into dental school.  I plan on not leaving the room until I've listed at least one hundred and eighty seven reasons why I would make a phenominal orthodontist.  I will blow this person away...or make them accept me to get me to shut up.  Hmm, revisit #5.

8. Oh yeah, and have fun.

Not too much fun though, just the right amount.

Sometimes I'm crafty.  I took my BORING closet area and with some inspiration from my idol, Emily, from Cupcakes and Cashmere I made some much needed adjustments. Mucho better, no?
